About Us
The Geodynamics Research Center (GRC) at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) focuses mainly on dynamics of lithospheric and upper mantle processes, such as earthquake cycle deformation of megathrust and crustal earthquakes, glacial isostatic adjustment. By integrating geodetic, seismological and geological observations with numerical models, we wish to better understand the physics of earthquakes, the rheological structure of the Earth and planetary interior, and to improve the assessments of natural hazards. We are interested in constructing theoretical models, taking and processing geodetic measurements, and developing observatory instruments. [Researcher Position]
1-2 postdoctoral research position and 1 associate research scientist position are now opening for applying.
Requirements:
PhD degree; publications in prestigious geophysical journals.
Responsibility:
(1) Research on the lithospheric deformation and stresses: Collect and process geodetic data; develop finite element models; systematic analyses on deformation processes, etc. Other research fields may also be considered.
(2) Develop AI algorithm for planetary morphology studies.
(3) Field trips on campaign-GPS measurements, permanent-GPS site installation and maintenance, seismic surveys, etc.
(4) Other department/team volunteer work, public service, etc.
Salary:
Annual salary follows the guidelines of the university and DSEL. The current level is no less than 45W RMB per year including all the welfare. The exact payment amount may vary depending on the availability of the funding and the performance. The excellent performance may receive up to 70W RMB per year. Every year, we accept 1 MSc student and 1 PhD student. You are very welcome to contact us for details. Potential students may be invited to visit USTC at our cost.
[Undergraduate]
We welcome undergraduate students work on the thesis projects with us. We encourage students join us as soon as possible, ideally at the end of the second year. Each year Dr. Hu may supervise up to two undergraduate thesis projects. Deadline for starting the thesis project is Oct. 1st in the fourth year.
No thesis projects will be accepted after Oct. 1!!
